A College Degree Is More Realistic With Some Financial Aid!

If going to college is a life goal, the US government wants to help students achieve their university degrees. A recently signed bill is making more money available to help students pay for college or to pay off their student loans. Even if you are already enrolled in college, you can make use of this additional funding. Imagine not having to worry about how you are going to afford your college degree.

According to a recent article in the Boston Globe, financial aid programs will receive more funding in the next few years. That’s because President Obama recently signed a bill allowing an overhaul of the college financial aid system. This includes the popular Pell grant. If you need more information about online degree program, look on the internet.

BusinessWeek reveals that the new plan – part of the health care bill – will save a total of $68 billion over a 10-year period. The money will go to reduce interest rates on student loans and allow borrowers to pay back their loans over a longer period of time. The money will also go to government-sponsored college grants, such as Pell grants. These grants are given to students with annual family income of between thirty and sixty thousand dollars. The grants cover a maximum of 18 semesters.

While recipients of the Pell do not have to pay back this money, students who take out loans will have to repay them eventually. This latest move by the government may help those who return to school to complete their degrees at a later date, perhaps after having a family. Giving such individuals a longer payment period may make budgeting and adjustments easier. There are specific programs to help students who are the only working person in their family, for example a single mother. These programs include food stamps and low cost housing benefits. These programs may temporarily relieve the student’s financial burden enough that they will not have to take out a college loan.

The new bill lowers interest rates on federal student loans. Under the plan, loan payments cannot be more than ten percent of a student’s income. President Obama says the idea is to make a college education available to every American, which is an investment in the country’s future.

The cost of a college education climbs every year. The College Board estimates students will pay $172 to over one thousand dollars more this year for tuition than last year. Without help, this would continue to put college out of reach for many. Learning all you can about online college grant is a good idea.

Online students seeking university degrees can qualify for the same financial aid as on traditional college students. No matter where a student chooses to get their college degree, they can be confident there is money available to help them pay for it, such as Pell grants for college. That’s the aim of the new education bill, to make higher education affordable to more people.
